In my opinion, there is no number 1 way to make money online. I am saying that because there are so many different ways to make money online and everyone has their own preferences. They include affiliate marketing, selling products, flipping sites, paid plugs, blogging, business opportunities, adsense, CPA, online payday loans, and many more. Some of these ways work better for some people, while the same way would not produce much money for other people. This is because not every one has the same amount of resources. For instance if you want to make money with CPC programs such as Adsense, you need to have a blog that has good search engine ranking. A site ranking number one for a keyword would make more money than a site ranking number 10 for the same keyword.

To me, the number 1 way to make money online is doing paid posting. This is the easiest to me because you just have to write a post, normally 100 words about a website or a service. If you want to get more opportunity, you need to have a high page rank (read how to improve your page rank). The higher your page rank the more opportunity you would receive and better the offer. This method is not reliable because if you lose your page rank, it would be hard to find any opportunity, unless you have traffic.

I come recommend anyone new to internet marketing to do paid post because it is easy to make a blog to have a page rank. Then as the person’s site matures, the person can do either affiliate marketing or use adsense on their site.

There are websites that would pay you to write for them. One of the website is eHow. eHow doesn’t really pay to write for them, they are like a revenue paying site i.e. if they make money from your article, they would give you part of the money. I don’t know how much percentage they would give to you from the revenue. I chose eHow because it is easy to wrote articles over there. eHow is not really strict, they want you to follow their guidelines. Their guidelines are what you should already know if you know how to produce quality content. eHow editors wants the site to have quality content.

Any article you publish on ehow goes live as soon as you hit the publish button. If the article you publish is low quality, the editors would delete it later. I once heard that the editors delete articles that don’t generate any revenue. I think because they believe that the article has low quality.

As of today, I have made $44.82 from ehow. This is from 2 months from my article being live on ehow. I have published 11 articles on ehow. Some articles have made money, while some haven’t made a penny yet. I am thinking ehow editors might soon remove those articles.

If you are thinking about you can write on ehow, let me tell you that you can write about anything. You are required to write about how to do things. You know how to do somethings, then write about it. Since you have the practical knowledge already, you just have transfer the knowledge into writing which I guess would not take you a lot of time. It is also good to insert a picture into your article.

Looking at the homepage of ehow, I guess that they put articles that are demand. That is during the summer period, ehow would like to put articles that are related to summer on their homepages such as gardening, tanning, beach and the rest. I guess that writing this type of articles would make you more money because they are in demand.

I have read about people that make about $200  per month with ehow. The author of the book, how to write for ehow, makes more than $1000 per month from ehow. He has more than 200 articles on ehow. If you want to make money, you should be ready to write a lot of articles. 11 articles would take you no where.

FTC (Federal Trade Commission) might get involved with paid posts. The FTC handles consumer complaints about products. I don’t know if any consumer has complained about paid post, but the FTC doesn’t like bloggers doing paid posts. According to Businessweek,

This summer, the government agency is expected to issue new advertising guidelines that will require bloggers to disclose when they’re writing about a sponsor’s product and voicing opinions that aren’t their own. The new FTC guidelines say that blog authors should disclose when they’re being compensated by an advertiser to discuss a product.

So basically the FTC wants bloggers to disclose that it is a paid plugin. But at times, most paid to blog or paid to post site requires bloggers not to disclose it is a paid post. Well, I think this guidelines would be for the popular blogs. Bloggers with small blog should have no worries because they wouldn’t be seen by FTC. Only Google that might see their blogs. Google would reduce your site PR if it catches you doing paid post.

I don’t see anything wrong with paid post. The only problem would be if the review is postive, but the blogger hasn’t tried the product. If the blogger has tried the product, he can give a postive or neutral review. When I was doing paid review, I prefer writing neutral post because I haven’t tried the product. I don’t want to wast my time lookng for positive reviews other blogs have written and try to compose my own. That is time wasting and stressful.

Leaving comments on other blogs is one way of getting backlinks to your blog. If you leave useful comments, you would not only get backlinks, but you would get traffic to your blog. It is important to leave useful comments on blogs so that your comments can be posted on the blog to achieve the backlinks and traffic. If you post comments like “nice tips” or “This is an interesting article”, the blog owner might approve your comments.

I have when someone leaves misleading comments because it is annoying. I once had a commenter that left a comment that said that I have an intersting blog and he just subscribed to my feed. I was happy with that comment because someone just subscribed to my fed without me telling the person to subscribe. The next day, I saw the same exact comment on another of my blog. I don’t know how he found that blog. When I saw that comment, I knew that I was deceived. I always moderate the first comments on my blog. I delete his comment on this blog and on the other blog.

If you want to receive the benefits of commenting, you should leave useful comments. By useful comments, I mean that you should read the blog post. I can tell by reading someone’s comment if the person read or did not read a blog post. Don’t let people call you a spammer because spammers don’t read blog posts. They just copy and paste the same words on every blog they come across. If you leave useful comments, you would attract other blog readers to your blog. The readers would be curious about what your blog is about and what type of posts do you have on your blog. If you have what they are looking for, they might become regular readers and might subscribe to your feed.

The forums I am specifying are webmaster forums. Forums is a place where you can learn a lot of things. I like forums because you would get immediate answer from people that are online in the forum and know the answer to your question. The benefits of spending time in forums are

1. Getting Knowledge – Every newbie should spend their time on forums because there would be a lot of people over there to help them out. Forums are better than blogs because it enables people to exchange ideas better than blogs. Blogs are personal, so the blog owner might not publish any contradicting ideas on his blog.

2. Blog Post Ideas – If you have a blog in the blogging niche and you run out of ideas, I would encourage you to visit forums to ideas from forums. Write blog posts that answer newbies questions.

3. Drive Traffic to Your Blog – After answering newbies questions in your blog post, you can post the URL of blog post on any thread telling newbies to visit this link if they want to learn more about that issue.

4. Make Money – You can make money by advertising your affiliate links or sell your ebook. If you are a programmer, you can build websites template to sell or assist others with their project for a fee. You can also be a freelancer by doing forum posting or blogs commenting.

5. Know Other Bloggers and Blogs – You can also make friends with other bloggers that you can share ideas with or they can help you in your link building campaign. You can also visit other blogs where you can learn more about blogging or what is going on in the blogosphere.

6. Exchange Links – Forums enable you to exchange links with other webmaster. Remember, to get to the top of the first page on Google, you need backlinks. Exchanging links would enable you to be on the top.
